Eurac Research develops strategies, technologies, and solutions to address pressing challenges of our time, including the sustainable use of natural resources, economic prosperity, and public health. Our work is rooted in the local context but extends to broader European and international dimensions.

The Institute for Renewable Energy is one of eleven institutes within Eurac Research. Focused on six key research areas—Sustainable Heating & Cooling Systems, Photovoltaic Systems, Energy Efficient Buildings, Urban and Regional Energy Systems, Energy Retrofit of Historic Buildings, Overall Energy System Modelling, and E-Mobility. The Institute for Renewable Energy develops tools and technologies for efficient and sustainable management of energy systems at various scales, from individual buildings to neighbourhoods and cities.
