About Front Runner #4 

Front Runner #4 is located in Greece and will create an integrated ecosystem of newly built, existing, and renovated homes. The project includes seven single houses: one newly built and six existing. The new house will be equipped with a Heat Pump (HP), 10 kW Photovoltaic (PV) panels, and a 3.5 kW solar thermal system, while the six existing homes will feature heat pumps and PV panels. 

A key common element across all these homes is the use of heat pumps for heating, and potentially cooling. The project aims to function as a "Decarbonisation-as-a-Service lab," where cost-effective decarbonisation solutions will be tested alongside demand response and flexibility services. Ultimately, the pilot intends to serve as an orchestrating mechanism that connects citizens with local and regional value chains, involving energy companies and utility providers with the shared goal of promoting cost-effective decarbonisation.
